Determine if Windows is 32-bit or 64-bit

Overview

Windows operating systems come in 32-bit and 64-bit versions which alter the versions of applications that will run on the computer. 64-bit Windows installations will run both 32 bit and 64-bit applications but a Windows 32-bit installation cannot run any 64-bit applications.

Steps

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Click System.
  3. Click About from the left menu.
  4. Under Device specifications, the System type tells you if your device is 32- or 64-bit.
