How to find your IP address

Overview

An IP address, or Internet Protocol address, is a series of numbers used to identify hardware devices on a network.

 

Steps

Windows 10

1. Go to the search bar. 

2. Type "cmd" (without the quotation marks) in the search box. 

3. Click on the cmd entry. 

4. In the new Command Prompt window, type "ipconfig /all" (without the quotation marks) and hit the Enter key.

5. Look for the line that reads "Ethernet Adapter Ethernet1" (for wired) or "Wireless LAN Adapter: WiFi" (for wireless).

6. Below that line, you will see a line that reads "IPv4 Address".

7. The IPv4 Address is your IP address.
